Larissa Lim

Larissa LimLarissa is a senior manager in the AI Governance Team (Data Innovation & Protection Group) in the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Her work deals with the formulation and implementation of policies relating to AI Governance and Ethics as well as cross-border data flows. She has represented Singapore at various international platforms discussing AI ethics and governance issues, such as the intergovernmental consultations on UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. She is currently an expert involved in the OECD’s Working Party on AI Governance (WPAIGO). She is also an Advocate and Solicitor of the Singapore Bar.

 

 

Vikneswaran s/o Kumaran

VikneswaranVikneswaran is a member of the Technology Law Cluster in the Singapore Legal Service and has been a legal service officer since 2012. He is also Senior Manager, Development of Data-Driven Tech at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). He started his career in the Attorney-General’s Chambers (“AGC”) as a deputy public prosecutor in the Criminal Justice Division and Financial and Technology Crime Division. He then joined the Legal Technology & Innovation Office, where he helped to drive the adoption and implementation of legal technology solutions within the AGC. He has a Bachelor of Laws from the Singapore Management University and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2016.

Nathanael LimNathanael is the co-founder of Avium, a media and entertainment company powered by Web3 and NFT technology to allow its community to co-own and co-create media content. Nathanael has over 10 years of legal experience and, in his previous life as a lawyer, worked with global technology companies and venture capital funds in the technology and digital asset sector.

Larissa Lim

I will discuss the AI ethical principles that have developed internationally and how these have been incorporated into Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework. I will also examine the tools that have been developed to support industry in their pursuit of trustworthy AI.

In my presentation, I will touch on data privacy principles, the importance of ethical practices in the use of data, and the issues that can arise in the creation of large data-sets used to train AI models. 
 

Nathanael Lim

If we think of metaverses as virtual worlds or countries, then each virtual world or country will have governing laws and regulations. The question of ethics is then about the design of law. What principles should apply in this design? Should there be separate laws? Law sets the parameters on what is right or wrong, while ethics sets the decision-making framework on what is right or wrong. Together, let’s explore these questions from the perspective of Avium.
