Numerous medals earned by Dr. Wee are pinned onto the State Flag which was placed above his coffin. These medals, awarded in recognition of his multifaceted contributions to his country, include:
Bintang Bakti Masyarakat (The Public Service Star)
Received by Dr. Wee in 1964 due to his journalistic achievements at The Straits Times.
Pingat Jasa Gemilang (The Meritorious Service Medal)
Received by Dr. Wee in 1979 due to his service as High Commissioner of Singapore to Malaysia.
Darja Utama Temasek (First Class) (The Order of Temasek)
Singapore’s highest civilian national honour. Awarded to Dr. Wee for his service as President of Singapore.
Order of the Bath
Received by Dr Wee in 1989 from Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain on her state visit to Singapore, for his service to both countries.
