Faculty Profile

Qiyang Zhang is an Assistant Professor in Learning Analytics at Singapore Management University’s (SMU) College of Integrative Studies (CIS). As a quantitative educational researcher, her current research addresses two critical questions in the digital age: how social media usage influences social support and emotional growth, and the impact of generative AI chatbots on individual well-being and mental health. Prior to joining SMU, she held appointments at Duke-NUS Medical School and the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Holistic Initiatives for Learning and Development (CHILD). At CIS, she teaches and mentors students on topics related to the science of learning, educational technology, and data analytics, with a particular emphasis on navigating the ethical challenges and psychological impact of a tech-saturated world.
