In a joint commentary, SMU Dean of College of Integrative Studies and Professor of Political Science Elvin Lim and SMU Senior Lecturer of Computer Science Andrew Koh discussed the need to re-evaluate natural intelligence in the face of ChatGPT. They highlighted the need for university admissions officers to find new instruments to identify students whose competence goes beyond knowledge-gathering and furnishing past-verified answers to the ability to ask productive questions, and shared how the SMU College of Integrative Studies has a pedagogy that embraces interdisciplinary enquiry beyond AI.
