Five-and-a-half-year study on coastal, flood protection for northwest coast

Commenting on the new five-and-a-half-year study on Singapore’s northwest coast, SMU Associate Professor of Science, Technology and Society Winston Chow discussed how this study is different from those previously commissioned, and that it is predominantly natural as compared to past studies looking into the densely populated parts of Singapore. He also said that the option of managed retreat as a potential solution could in fact be a more cost-effective option than other engineering solutions.
