In a commentary, SMU Professor of Communication and Technology and Vice President of Partnerships and Engagement Lim Sun Sun discussed the need for people to brace themselves for deepfake overload as generative artificial intelligence becomes freely accessible in a post-trust world. She shared ways of how one can spot fake images and the inventions that are sprouting to detect them but cautioned that people will still have to marshal their best facilities for critical thinking and circumspection when verifying content.
